Jerry Stevens (Incumbent)

Board of Education

Jerry Stevens is seeking re-election to the Monroe Board of Education. Living in Monroe his entire life, he has been deeply involved with our school system for over 50 years; 12 years from his childhood education as a student, and the 34 years that he had the pleasure of being a Technology Education teacher in Monroe.

The last 10 years Jerry has served on our Board of Education. These years spent immersed in Monroe Public schools has afforded him a wealth of direct experiences with our community, parents, students and staff. 

Jerry’s educational background, along with teaching over 20,000 of our incredible Monroe students, has permitted him to develop many important life skills including: educator, problem-solver, listener and a sense of humor. Jerry holds 3 teaching Degrees: Bachelors in Industrial Arts/Technology Education, Masters in Counseling, and a 6th Year in Educational Leadership. 

Throughout his teaching career Jerry has received many local and State awards:   

  • 2002 – CT Technology Program of the Year. 

  • 2006 – Monroe Teacher of the Year. 

  • 2007 – CT Technology Education Teacher of the Year. 

 Jerry has also served on many Local and State Committees: 

  • 30+ years executive members of the CT Education/Engineering Association; President for 10 years 

  • Co-authored the CT State Tech. Ed Standards 

  • Served on Monroe’s STEM Committee 

  • Appointed to CT State STEM Committee 

  • 2013 – Appointed to Monroe’s Economic Development Commission. 

  • 2015 – Elected to Monroe Board of Education. 

 Jerry’s re-election would continue to allow him to pay tribute to our outstanding schools by representing a unique perspective as a parent, teacher and current Board of Education member. Thank you for your continued support.
