Nina Gagnon
Town Council
Nina has been proud to call Monroe home for over 10 years. During that time, she has grown to love the town’s charm—and especially its people.
A graduate of Marist College with a degree in Mathematics and Secondary Education, Nina began her career teaching in Connecticut in 2013 before stepping back to focus on raising her family. During that time she built a successful Etsy business that has thrived for over a decade. In 2023, she returned to the classroom as a permanent substitute at Stepney Elementary, and in October 2024 she joined Jockey Hollow STEM Academy as the Math Interventionist, where she continues to teach.
Nina’s commitment to Monroe extends far beyond the classroom. She served as a chair of the Monroe Playground Foundation and led as a team captain during the community build. She volunteered regularly at Stepney Elementary, supporting events such as the school store, book fair, and classroom activities. She also has served the community as a Cub Scout Den Leader with Pack 262 and contributes her time as a committee member of the Historic District Committee as well as “the giant carrot” at the Monroe Farmers’ Market.
This past summer, Nina served as head coach for the Lakewood-Trumbull YMCA’s Race4Chase program, a free six-week triathlon training for children ages 5-12. Under her leadership, more than 50 children from Monroe and neighboring towns trained and competed in a 500+ participant triathlon.
Nina is looking forward to serving her community further as a member of the Monroe Town Council if given the opportunity.
